WAR AGAINST GRAVITY PART TWO

In part one, we saw what gravity was, and all it does in nature. We understood that gravity remains a helpful force provided you want to remain on the ground.

We equally discussed about the force of lift which is the energy an aircraft must generate in order to surpass the gravitational pull of the earth, and rise into the clouds.

I trust we also understood the figurative connotation of the force of gravity and the force of lift as it relates to the life of a Christian. In part two, we shall move a step further to answer one vital question; why warring?

Why War against Gravity?
Let’s use the simile that sets ‘gravity’ as a super military power that seeks to invade anyone it can. This will help us understand what we shall talk about.

As I tried to fathom the major cause of WARS, I discovered that, most wars were as a result of a super power trying to gain control over the territory of another. This attempt at dominating and taking over territory is the underlying cause of most wars as the other party would fight to counter such a plot if it isn’t late already. Principally, the hunger for Territorial Domination leads to wars.

World War II
If you study the history of World War II which is described as the greatest international conflict ever because, it claimed over 60-80 million lives and left thousands maimed and homeless while it lasted; you would realize that the German dictator Adolf Hitler, in collaboration with Japan, Italy, and other ally sought to take over Europe and China, and control all of her territorial lines. To a large extent they succeeded, but thanks to the help of France, Britain, and the U.S.

Within the period the war lasted Hitler took over most countries in Europe beginning with Poland which was attacked from the east and west with the help of his Soviet Union ally because Poland had no military force to defend her territory. What a sad one.

How does this relate to us?
Did you know that man himself is a territory? Have you realized how you naturally rebel against any person or entity that seeks to control you physically without your consent?
Why is this inherent in us? It’s because, we are a kind of territory, and will always want to maintain our territorial integrity. Man is a being having great potentials in himself, with a soul like a vast island. Man’s inner self is actually a target territory sought for invasion by spiritual forces.

Let’s check it out from the Bible
Our instance would be the account in Luke 8:26-33 popularly known as the mad man of Gadara.

“26. Then they sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee.
27 And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs.
28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!”
29 For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.
30 Jesus asked him, saying, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him.
31 And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss.
32 Now a herd of many swine was feeding there on the mountain. So they begged Him that He would permit them to enter them. And He permitted them.
33 Then the demons went out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the lake and drowned.”

Such a wonderful insight to the degree a man can contain spirit entities. This mad had a legion living inside him. Thank God he had an encounter with Jesus.

What is a legion?
“In common usage, a legion was the largest unit in the Roman army. At that time, a legion averaged about 5,000 fighting men, though it could have thousands more or fewer. So the term legion refers to any large number of beings; a multitude.”
Do you see how vast a human being can be? Imagine for a moment a gathering of about 5000 people, and consider the kind of space that would contain such a crowd. This was the case of this man. He was completely invaded and crowded.

Treasures in Territories
Every enemy seeking the control of a new territory does so because, there are treasures to be possessed in the land.
God Himself promised the children of Israel a land flowing with milk and honey.
Apostle Paul speaking in 2 Corinthians 4:7 says “we have these treasures in earthen vessels.” Man is a compendium of treasures. The treasures in you are your contributions to the betterment of humanity and the enemy won't fold his arms and watch you make impact.

Protect your Treasures
Any group of people or nation perceived as weak will be a most wanted territory for control as in the case of Poland and other nations during the World War II.

Anyone who lives an unguarded life would remain prone to satanic invasions and exploitation. Therefore there is the need to protect and guard our lives, and we do this by developing intimacy with our God through consistent prayers, study of the Word, and other spiritual exercises.

The statement of Jesus to Peter further corroborates the need to guard our lives against the plots of the devil through prayers as recorded in Luke 22:31-32.
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

Judas lost out because he lived an unguarded life and he fell to the invasion of Satan. Same Luke 22:3 says: “Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.”

I charge us in Gods stead to fortify our defense lines and walls through continuous pursuit of the presence of the Lord Jesus. His presence drove the legion, then imagine what will happen when we abide in His Presence as a way of life.
Your treasure is at stake. The war is fierce but your victory is guaranteed. Peace!
